Dragonfly and damselfly survey at Low Moss near Lugar.

*British Dragonfly Week Event!*

We’ll meet at Low Moss at 10:30 for a 10:45 start on Wednesday 17th July. Following our successful bog restoration work here, there are now many more bog pools for breeding dragonflies and damselflies, We will be carrying out a dragonfly transect  across the restored bog and we’ll also sample for larvae in bogs pools..

The survey results will help us show the impact of our bog restoration work on biodiversity and and also improve species distribution maps. Survey training will be provided and if we have time we’ll also try out other invertebrate survey techniques.  All Records will be passed to the British Dragonfly Society and appropriate National Recording schemes.

Please dress appropriately for warm weather, apply sunscreen, bring lots of water, some lunch and possibly a sun hat too! The ground will probably be quite dry so walking boots will probably be fine as long as you don’t step in a ditch! Nets, pots and ID guides will be provided, but if you have your own, that could be useful.

There is limited parking at the site, so we may need to coordinate lift-sharing from Cumnock, Lugar or Logan.

Please contact Scott on 07766185987 or via scott.shanks@ea-cei.org.uk for more information or to register your attendance at the event.

* NOTE: This event is weather dependent and may need to be rescheduled at short notice.
