Help CEI carry out a Breeding Bird Survey (BBS) of in the Muirkirk and North Lowther Special Protection area on Thursday 16th May. CEI staff and volunteers will head out across the peatland habitat to record breeding bird activity before returning to ‘base camp’ to have a go at territory mapping. This is the second year of BBS surveys on the site, and it will be interesting to see if last winter’s peatland re-wetting work and the increase in bog pools has attracted additional species into the area to breed.
A good level of fitness is required as there will be plenty of walking across uneven ground. You don’t need to be a bird expert to join in, but some knowledge of bird species will be advantageous. It will be a good opportunity to brush up your ID skills! Please bring wellies or walking boots/gators, waterproofs, something warm, a packed lunch and a drink and binoculars if you have them.
Please contact Scott on 07766185987 or via firstname.lastname@example.org for more information or to register your attendance at the event.
