We wish to advertise an exciting opportunity to help lead an outstanding environmental charity working in East Ayrshire.
East Ayrshire Coalfield Environment Initiative (CEI) is a successful partnership between the local authority and conservation bodies, working with the community for over 10 years to enhance, conserve, and promote the environment in East Ayrshire. We wish to recruit a new member to join our Board of Directors. The existing Board is made up of representatives from the CEI’s member organisations East Ayrshire Council, Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, Scottish Natural Heritage, and an independent member.
We are seeking an independent member and are particularly interested in candidates from the local area and/or with a background in nature conservation, farming, ecology or habitat management and restoration.
What does the CEI Board do?
- Annually approves CEI’s work programme and associated budget
- Provides professional expertise and personal knowledge to help guide the work of the CEI
- Defines acceptable risk profiles and thresholds
- Members act as advocates for the CEI both internally and externally
The CEI Board meet quarterly, usually in February, May, August and November. Meetings are held in Kilmarnock and last around 2 hours. Papers are sent out a week or so in advance of meetings and there is some preparatory work required.
This is an unpaid, voluntary position. Travel expenses may be claimed.
For more information or to apply please contact Daisy Whytock, CEI Project Manager, on 01563553513 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
