Volunteering and community events

Take action for nature

Get involved and help make a difference to the natural environment in your community.

Volunteering opportunities

Volunteer with the Coalfield Environment Initiative and:

  • Contribute to environmental improvements in your local community
  • Develop new skills
  • Increase your understanding and appreciation of East Ayrshire’s wildlife
  • Meet like-minded people
  • Support real and lasting enhancement of the natural environment and landscape within the East Ayrshire Coalfield
  • Work towards receiving a John Muir Award

You can volunteer as much or as little as you can manage. From helping out with tasks in our community wildlife garden, to wildlife surveys and practical conservation activities, we aim to provide interesting opportunities for learning about and experiencing wildlife.

If you would like to volunteer with the CEI, please first register your interest and we will get in touch. You can find out more about the volunteer roles available with the CEI on this website. We are also currently seeking a Volunteer Company Secretary – click here to find out more about this opportunity.

If you would like any more information about volunteering in general or a specific event, please contact us or have a look at the most recent Volunteer Newsletter for an idea of what kind of things volunteers get up to!

Community events

From guided walks to building bird boxes, we always have a varied programme of events.

At one of our community events, you can:
