Outreach Event Volunteer

The Outreach Event Volunteer will support the CEI in the coordination and delivery of educational and awareness raising events to engage local people in conservation and their natural environment, and to publicise the work of the CEI.

Where:

Various locations in the East Ayrshire coalfield region

When:

Usually a handful of events per year – likely to focus around summer, school and bank holidays. Events are likely to take place in the evening and at weekends.

Duration:

Ongoing

Requirements:

You must be able to work in a team and follow direction, in particular complying with any health and safety requirements. Previous experience of event coordination and delivery is an advantage, but not essential. You should be outgoing and good with people. You should be able to transfer your passion about conservation to others.
You must be able to represent the CEI professionally at all times. Events may take place outdoors, potentially in unfavourable weather conditions, and you must be willing to muck in and get a bit dirty!

NB. At present it is not anticipated that the Outreach Event Volunteer will have unsupervised contact with children or protected adults, however this will be regularly reviewed and a PVG disclosure check may be required in future.

Reward:

You will have the opportunity to develop skills and gain practical experience in organising and delivering events, while meeting lots of people and helping to inspire them to be passionate about their environment. You will be reimbursed for travel and other out-of-pocket expenses.
