Cumnock Treasure Trail – National Map Reading Week: Thursday 19th October

Come along and pick up some map-reading skills before setting off on the Cumnock Treasure Trail. The trail will take you on an adventure through Cumnock as you attempt to find 10 markers and answer the questions at each one. There will be a prize for the team/individual with the most points and everyone who completes the trail will be entered into a prize draw. Prizes include nature books, local history books and map-related goodies! The event is open to all ages but under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult.

This free, family-friendly event is part of National Map Reading Week – we hope that it will make map reading fun and inspire you to plan your own adventure!

This event will run from 12:30-15:30 on Thursday 19th October. Meet at Cumnock Town Hall where we’ll start off with a brief map skills session. No experience necessary. If you have your own compass, feel free to bring it along! The event is organised by the East Ayrshire Coalfield Environment Initiative (CEI) and the Cumnock Action Plan. To register your interest please contact CEI Project Officer Gemma Jennings on on 01563 576771 or gemma.jennings@ea-cei.org.uk.
