Join the CEI team for a series of lunchtime Big Butterfly Counts across East Ayrshire.

Grab a sandwich, pencil and free ID guide, and lets go count some butterflies! Look out for our regular updates on Twitter and Facebook to find out where we are going to be. Come join us if you are near by, or pop out and do a count in your own garden, allotment or local park! We’d love to hear what you’ve seen!

The Big Butterfly Count is a nationwide survey aimed at helping us assess the health of our environment. It was launched in 2010 and has rapidly become the world’s biggest survey of butterflies. Over 100,000 people took part in 2018, submitting 97,133 counts of butterflies and day-flying moths from across the UK (see all the 2018 results).

The 2019 Big Butterfly Count will take place from Friday 19 July – Sunday 11 August.
