24th June – Water Vole survey

We will join Stuart Brabbs from the Ayrshire Rivers Trust to survey RSPB Airds Moss for the Water Vole, a mammal which has undergone long term declines in Britain. The Water Vole is also an Ayrshire Biodiversity Action Plan Species highlighting it’s importance in this region. Water Voles can use a variety of wetland habitats providing conditions are right and peatbogs may be one of them! We will look for tracks and signs and hopefully confirm whether this is true for Airds Moss. No experience is necessary as all training will be provided!
