26th July – Bog Bioblitz

Join experts in the field of invertebrates, amphibians, botany and more to survey Airds Moss for as many species as we can find in one day! We will be using a variety of survey techniques, including the amazing bug vac and all equipment and training will be provided!

This year we will be ‘bio – blitzing’ Sheil Farm to the west of the RSPB reserve in Muirkirk, part of the Airds Moss Special Area of Conservation. This is an important peatland site that we have been working with the RSPB to restore this year as part of our peatland enhancement project. It has received relatively little in the way of biological recording therefore this survey event will provide much needed baseline data that can tell us a lot about the health of the habitat whilst also supporting future monitoring surveys to assess the success of re-wetting works.
